Tipu Sultan's Tomb, Mysore, Karnataka
















Gumbaz is the Mausoleum of Tipu Sultan (Tiger of Mysore), and his father Hyder Ali and mother Fathima Begam. The importance of Gumbaz lies in its well-shaped large dome with ivory inlaid doors and carved stone windows of fine workmanship and inscriptions.
Tipu's favourite Tiger stripes cover the walls. It is located at Srirangapatna or Srirangapatnam, the historical town of the Mysore Kings, at Karnataka, India.

Hanumanthaiya, who was Chief Minister of the then Mysore from 1951 to 1956, will be long remembered in the annals of the History of the State for his administration and achievements built this imposing edifice. The sprawling building and its surroundings occupy 60 acres.
